Support our work

Red Osier Guild is 100% volunteer run. We rely on donations and your generosity to do our work. If you want to contribute through a financial gift, please contact us at [email protected].

We accept cash donations, but also accept donations of gear and equipment that lends to our ability to do this work. We have a Wishlist. A gift of any of these help us do the work… but we are also willing to discuss contributions and donations that fit within our use, and add to the experience of land based learning. Do you have gently used equipment or military surplus that could help us?

Thank you, and deep gratitude for supporting Red Osier Guild!

Biolite Stove

Biolite stoves rely on found materials and require no external fuel. They also can charge devices through the heat generated by the stove.

We are looking for 3 for our land based survival camp

Mora Garberg Carbon Knife

Morakniv bushcraft fixed blade knife are good learning knives for both bush crafting and fire starting. They are high carbon steel with a full tang – a rugged knife for student use.

We would like 20 knives for students to use while learning skills

Silky Saw Big Boy Outback Edition

Silky saws are the best saw out there. When learning survival or working in stewardship, access to good tools increases the desire to participate.

We are looking for 2 Silky saws

MSR two pot set

In learning a progression to total land based survival, we start with tools that help and remove them as we learn skill. MSR pots last a long time, and will stand up to repeated use by learners.

We are looking for 5 sets of MSR pots

North American Rescue ROO-M Individual First Aid Kit

Land based learning and survival requires safety considerations. We have a high focus on emergency readiness. Individual First Aid Kits are necessary in our work

We are looking for 20 NAR IFAK

North American Rescue Trail Personnel Aid Kit

For those really dicey situations when things go horribly wrong… We train so they don’t, but not all accidents can be prevented. We are looking for a personnel kit for advanced first aid response.

We would like 2 TPAK

Sawyer mini filter

Clean water is a real concern in survival situations. The Sawyer mini filter is our filter of choice.

We would like 10 Sawyer mini filters

Survival tarp

Survival tarps are great for learning to build shelters, and to learn for other survival purposes.

We could use 10 survival tarps

Thermarest sleeping pad

Thermarest sleeping pads are a minimal luxury in survival camping. A simple layer that protects the learner from the cold is a bare minimum for a night’s sleep.

We could use 5 sleeping pads

Outbound cotton lined sleeping bag

A warmer weather sleeping bag with a sleeping pad will provide a bed for a learner at a land based learning camp.

We could use 5 sleeping bags

Bayite ferro rod

These ferro rods are larger and have tens of thousands of strikes possible. We also have found the Bayite rods to work well in all conditions. These are crucial in learning fire skills.

We could use 25 ferro rods

Variety of tarps

Every camp needs tarps. If you can donate clean, good tarps, we would happily put them to use. We are looking for a variety of sizes and weights.

Can you have enough, or too many tarps? Ever?

Black Diamond Spot 400 headlamp

Headlamps are the best. They leave your hands free to do work into the night. Also useful for a bathroom trip when the sun has gone down.

We would love to start with 5 headlamps

All Weather Duct Tape

My father was very clear on the many uses of duct tape. Can you ever have too much?

10 rolls of duct tape doesn’t quite build an empire does it?

Fox 40 pealess whistles

Emergency signalling is easy with a pealess whistle. Nothing gets a sound across quite as good as a Fox 40. Due to these being single person items – we cannot share them – we need one for each individual participant.

25 Fox 40 whistles would be a full camp cohort

550 Paracord

Another dad tip – always have rope. Paracord is particularly useful – strong, can be separated and the inside used as fire starter, and also good for learning knots. Paracord also can be made into great bracelets. We will accept any and all colours… but this spool is great value.

5 spools paracord would set us up for awhile

Aquatabs

Aquatabs are great water purification for cooler weather when filters might crack. These are important water cleaners for a survival situation.

These are single use. More aquatabs will always be a requirement

MEC 40l backpack

We will take donations of gently used 40 litre + packs for camping and hiking, or army surplus. Many of our participants will not be able to afford a good backpack for the courses.

20 back packs would provide a cohort with bags

Titanium Naceture UL Trowel

A little shovel, strong and compact, is a necessary tool at any camp situation. This one is rugged, and long lasting. A handle can be carved and secured to the holes in the handle – another bushcraft project!

We are looking for 10 trowels – ideal for backpacking learning
